KARMIC JOURNEYS

Blog number 247 **** 16 November 2008

Sometimes reading a book is like probing open sores. Fresh wounds are touched thoughtlessly.

Fair enough, I say.

What book?

I just read a book that reminded me of my life as a child. The father in the story was an alcoholic. He deserted the family. My father did not.
My Mom told me, when he was passed out, she would look at him and fantisize about putting him out of his misery. Well, really, she would have put him out of her misery!
I now understand how life can just beat the spirit out of a person.

It's not a scar, yet.

HI Paul.

The book was the latest by Agustus Burgess (I think that's spelled right.) I think it was called, "The knife at the Table."
I took it back to the library and mine memory is not all that great. I am surprised that I remembered even that much.

Hi Zip!

This book sounds like the one you described. In thisa one though, the father was chasing him through the woods with a knife yelling, "I'm gonna kill you."

Life beating the spirit out of a person, yeah. I read some of the experiences of people - especially in war, and it is absolutely no wonder that it changes them.

The book was written by Augusten Burroughs and the title was, "A Wolf At the Table."

I was unable to find a way to edit the comments. I hope this works.
